Weekly Writing Report/Brief Update (08/19 – 08/25)

This has honestly been one of my more productive weeks lately. I’m still dealing with a bit of sadness and “sick brain” as I like to call it because I got really sick recently, for the second damn time in a row on the same day as last week (which I am very upset about), but for some reason, the closer I get to the end of my book, the faster by it seems to go. I’ve been keeping track of the amount of words I write in my book via a goal tracker in NaNoWriMo, which I started on July 2nd, around the time I started writing these blog entries a little more seriously. I made it a goal to get up to 80,000 words in my book by September 2nd when I started off at around 47,000 words. It seems like a good headstart, but honestly, I’ve gone through a lot of writing lulls.

There’s a bar graph on NaNoWriMo that visually displays your progress day-to-day as you update the amount of words you write, and it sort of flatlines for, like, 1/3 of the days on there. It’s mostly because I’ve been working on my game, but now, I’m definitely dedicating more time to the book, especially when we’re so close to the end of it! Now it’s a steady climb, and I’m only 3,000 words away from my goal, which is good, since I technically only have three days to finish that word count.

Here’s the thing I wanted to update you guys on. I actually only work one day of the week this coming week because I’ve been summoned for jury duty, and will have to attend it from August 29th to September 1st, which means I likely won’t be able to write these blog entries for that week. I also won’t be able to work on my book during that time either, so I need to make it to 80,000 words by the time Monday of this coming week comes around. It’s not gonna be difficult, especially with the amazing direction it’s taken. Either way, I hope your week has gone well, and I look forward to seeing you again.
